How do I obtain a copy of a record?

Copies of records (Accident Reports, Incident Reports) can be obtained from the Records Bureau three days after a "Report Request Form" has been submitted. There is a fee of .50 cents per page. The Longmeadow Police Department's Records Bureau is open during normal business hours 8:00 am - 4:00 pm Monday through Friday. A "Report Request Form" can be downloaded from this site by returning to the home page under "Forms" then clicking "Report Request Form."

The "Report Request Form" can also be found in the lobby of the police department; 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
A report can also be mailed by sending a request form, along with a self-addressed, stamped envelope, to the Longmeadow Police Department, Records Bureau, 34 Williams Street, Longmeadow, MA 01106. The fee is $5.00 for requests by mail.

Can I receive a copy of any type of report?

No, under state law certain records are not available. Examples of records, which are NOT AVAILABLE, include

  1. Accidents or incidents involving criminal charges that may result in incarceration and have not been adjudicated.
  2. Accidents or incidents, which are still under investigation.
  3. Records, which are expressly prohibited from disclosure to the public by statute.
  4. Arrest records. You may acquire a copy of your record from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Criminal History System's Board. Police reports that involve criminal charges are reviewed prior to being released. Reports with CORI information may be obtained through the District Attorney's Office.

How do I obtain a permit to carry a firearm or chemical spray?

Longmeadow residents can obtain a LTC's (License to Carry) firearms permit, from the Longmeadow Police Department. You can pick up an application from the police department at anytime or one can be downloaded.

Appointments are required and times vary for your convenience. Appointments can be made by speaking directly to the dispatcher or contacting the Records Division- Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM.

Fees:
Class A, B, & C - $100.00
Class D - $25.00 (Chemical Spray Permit Only)

ALL LICENSE'S ARE GOOD FOR 6 YEARS.

My employer requires me to have my fingerprints taken. Does the police department provide this service?

The police department will take your fingerprints for a $5.00 fee. You are required to provide your own print cards & a picture ID is required. Please call ahead to see if a police officer is available. Although this service can be provided at any time, it is more readily available during the records division's hours of operation.
